HALF MILLIONTH COFFEE SERVED AT ST IVES BAR
01/04/2008
A St Ives woman who ordered a coffee at a bar in the town has won a free coffee every day for the next 12 months after ordering the cup that took The Hub through a 500,000th cup milestone.
Carol Rouncefield said she was shocked and surprised when, after ordering a coffee for her and a friend, she was told hers was the half a millionth and prize-winning coffee ordered at The Hub.
Now there is nothing to stop Carol indulging her taste for Hub Coffee for the next 365 days after winning a free one every day for a year in addition to a meal at The Hub for breaking through the milestone.
“I couldn’t believe it when I was told my order had broken the half million barrier – mostly because I never win anything,” said Carol who works at PBWC Architects in the town.
“Myself and my colleague Pascal try and pop in as often as we can and we go to the Hub because out of everywhere we have tried, we think they serve the best coffee. Unfortunately Pascal wasn’t with me the day I went in so we will enjoy the meal at the Hub instead."
Hub owner Richard Boon said he was delighted that it was one of his regular customers that broke the barrier and will be able to enjoy the free coffee and meal prize.
“We were slightly worried as we were near the half term break when the 500,000th target was broken and thought it might be a challenge for someone from Birmingham for example to enjoy their free daily coffee, so we are delighted that Carol will now become an even more regular customer than she already is! All members of the team at the Hub are trained in how to make coffee properly, as from the moment we launched the Hub, it has been a very important part of our day time business, reflected in the fact that we have now sold over half a million cups,” said Richard.
